How much is stomach liposuction?
Stomach liposuction costs $3,500–$8,000 in total in the US, from $3,500 for a small lower-abdomen treatment to $8,000 for full abdominal contouring. Adding the flanks ("love handles") raises it to $7,000–$14,000. Figures updated September 2026. The ASPS 2024 surgeon/physician fee for liposuction in general is $4,300–$7,500, which is not an abdomen total.1
| Zone treated | US total | UK total | Turkey all-inclusive | Scope |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Limited lower abdomen only | From $3,500 | From £3,000 | From $2,000 | A small pocket below the navel |
| Full abdomen (upper and lower) | $3,500–$8,000 | £3,000–£6,500 | $2,000–$4,000 | Ribcage to pubic line |
| Abdomen plus flanks ("stomach and love handles") | $7,000–$14,000 | £6,000–£11,000 | $2,500–$4,500 | Two areas, one session |
| Lipo 360 (abdomen, flanks and back) | $7,000–$18,000 | £5,000–£12,000 | $2,000–$4,500 | Full torso; own price page |
Figures updated: September 2026. US and Turkey figures are in US dollars, UK figures in pounds sterling. Turkey packages bundle hotel and transfers; flights are extra. These are estimates for planning, not quotes.
What each row means
A limited lower-abdomen treatment sits at the bottom of the range, and the figure shown is a starting price, not a ceiling. Full abdominal contouring uses the whole range. Some practices price the upper and lower abdomen separately, so ask which zones a number covers.
"Stomach and love handles" usually means the abdomen plus the flanks. That costs more than one area but usually less than treating each on a separate day, because anaesthesia and the operating room are shared. The flanks alone are in our back and flank guide, the abdominal liposuction guide covers the operation itself, and other areas are in the liposuction cost overview.
What's included in the price?
A complete US price includes the surgeon's fee, anaesthesia, the operating facility, a compression garment, medications and follow-up visits. Many practices advertise only the surgeon's fee, so always ask for an itemised quote before comparing. A Turkey package usually adds a hotel and transfers, but flights are extra.
Usually included in a full quote
- Surgeon's fee: ASPS 2024 projects $4,300–$7,500 for liposuction generally, not for the abdomen alone
- Anaesthesia: $500–$2,000
- Surgical facility: $800–$3,000+
- Compression garment: $80–$300 if bought separately
- Medications: $50–$200
- Follow-up visits: ask how many are included
Usually not included in the quoted price
- Pre-operative tests and any consultation fee
- Lymphatic massage and a second garment
- Time off work and help at home
- Treating a complication, or a revision
- If you travel: flights, extra hotel nights and travel insurance
Extras that most quotes leave out commonly add $500–$2,000; see hidden and follow-up costs. The gap between a headline price and a full price is well documented: in a study of 66 US practices that publish cosmetic surgery prices, the surgeon's fee was part of every listed price, but the facility fee was part of 38 and the anaesthesia fee of 34.2 A Turkish package bundles most of these lines into one price, so compare it with a US total, not a US surgeon's-fee-only quote.
Why does abdomen pricing vary more than other areas?
Because the abdomen is the largest single treatment zone and the one where patients differ most. Fat volume, skin quality, scarring from earlier surgery and the type of fat all change how long the operation takes. Its US range, $3,500–$8,000, spans more dollars than that of any other single area.
Fat volume and zones treated
More fat and a larger treated area mean a longer operation and more anaesthesia. The two halves of the abdomen also differ: in a published series of 2,000 cases, the authors describe upper-abdominal fat as more fibrous and compact, with a higher risk of irregularities, and lower-abdominal skin as looser and more prone to sagging.3
Skin quality
Liposuction removes fat, not skin. A surgeon usually checks skin quality by pinching the skin and watching how quickly it springs back. Where skin is thin or has lost elasticity, a different or additional operation may be advised, and the quote then follows that plan.
Earlier surgery and caesarean scarring
Scar tissue from earlier abdominal surgery, including a caesarean section (C-section), can make tissue layers harder to separate and the operation slower. A surgeon may allow extra operating time or suggest a more cautious plan, and the quote can change accordingly. Tell every practice about earlier operations before you ask for a quote.
The male abdomen
Men tend to carry more fat in the central abdomen, and more of it deep inside as visceral fat, than women do.4 Male abdominal fat is also often described as firmer and more fibrous, which can lengthen the operation. Liposuction cannot remove visceral fat, the deep fat around the organs, so a firm belly that does not pinch may change less than expected; the abdominal liposuction guide explains how to tell the difference.
Where you have surgery
Prices also tend to be higher in major metropolitan markets and lower in smaller ones, so a quote from a large city will usually sit toward the upper part of the range. The evidence is mixed for liposuction: US research links cosmetic surgery prices to local cost of living and population size,5 but a study of 66 US practices found significant regional price differences for most cosmetic operations and not for liposuction.2
What stomach liposuction can and cannot do
Stomach liposuction removes pinchable fat from beneath the skin of the abdomen and can change the contour of the waist. It cannot tighten loose skin, repair separated abdominal muscles or remove visceral fat, and it is not a weight-loss method. Those limits decide whether the money buys the result you want.
| It can | It cannot |
|---|---|
| Remove localised fat from the upper abdomen, lower abdomen or both | Tighten loose or stretched skin |
| Slim the waistline, especially with the flanks treated too | Repair separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) |
| Work through small incisions, without a tummy tuck's long scar | Remove visceral fat (see the abdominal liposuction guide) |
| Reshape the treated area while your weight stays stable | Work as a weight-loss method (see how much fat can be removed) |
The volume a surgeon can safely remove in one session is limited, and a higher price does not raise that limit. In a randomised trial of 36 women after small-volume abdominal liposuction, subcutaneous abdominal fat stayed lower six months later, but visceral fat rose by about 10% in the women who did not exercise afterwards.6 Treat the operation as reshaping, not a metabolic treatment.
Stomach liposuction vs tummy tuck: what are you paying for?
Liposuction removes fat; a tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens the abdominal wall. Because it is a larger operation, a tummy tuck costs more: $7,000–$20,000 in the US, against $3,500–$8,000 for stomach liposuction. With liposuction added it costs $10,000–$25,000. Your skin and muscle, not the price, should decide.
| Factor | Stomach liposuction | Tummy tuck | Tummy tuck with liposuction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Addresses | Fat only | Skin and abdominal wall | Skin, wall and fat |
| US total | $3,500–$8,000 | $7,000–$20,000 | $10,000–$25,000 |
| UK total | £3,000–£6,500 | £6,000–£14,000 | £9,000–£18,000 |
| Turkey all-inclusive | $2,000–$4,000 | $3,000–$6,500 | $4,000–$8,500 |
| Usually fits when | Skin is elastic; the concern is localised fat | Skin is loose or muscles have separated | Fat and loose skin are both present |
Liposuction alone can look cheaper while leaving loose skin a tummy tuck would remove, and a tummy tuck can cost more than you need if the only concern is a pocket of fat. Our guide to liposuction versus tummy tuck sets out how to decide.
How much does stomach lipo cost by country?
Stomach liposuction costs $3,500–$8,000 in the US, £3,000–£6,500 in the UK and $2,000–$4,000 as an all-inclusive package in Turkey, about 48% lower than the US at the midpoint. Mexico is $2,500–$5,000. Flights and travel insurance are extra. Figures updated September 2026.
| Country | Full-abdomen price | Compared with the US (midpoint) | Usually covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | $3,500–$8,000 | — | Often itemised |
| United Kingdom | £3,000–£6,500 | About the same as the US | Private-hospital total |
| Turkey | $2,000–$4,000 | About 48% lower | Surgeon, hospital, hotel, transfers, garment |
| Mexico | $2,500–$5,000 | About 35% lower | Varies by clinic |
UK figures are compared with the US after converting at about £0.79 to the dollar; Turkey and Mexico figures are in US dollars.
Why the prices differ
US research links cosmetic surgery prices to local cost of living, rent and population size rather than to how many surgeons practise nearby.5 That study compared US cities, not countries, but the same economics usually explain lower prices abroad. Against UK private prices, the Turkey package is about 50% lower after converting pounds; the Turkey range is approximately £1,600–£3,150.
How to read a very low quote
Treat a Turkey quote well below the low end of the range, for example under about $2,000 for the abdomen, as a prompt to ask questions. Ask what is left out, who will operate and where, and what follow-up continues once you are home. A low price alone is not a sign of poor safety, and a high one is not proof of good care. Our guide to safety in Turkey explains what to verify before you pay a deposit. The Turkey cost breakdown shows what packages contain, and more countries are on the cost by country page.
Does insurance cover stomach liposuction?
Stomach liposuction is cosmetic, so health insurance does not normally pay for it; Medicare, for example, usually does not cover cosmetic surgery.7 Any exception depends on a documented medical need and your policy and cannot be assumed, so get a written answer from your insurer first and see our insurance guide.
What are the hidden and follow-up costs?
The quoted price rarely covers everything. Budget for pre-operative tests, a second compression garment, lymphatic massage, medication and time off work; together these commonly add $500–$2,000 to a quote. If you travel, flights, extra nights and travel insurance come on top.
Before surgery
- Pre-operative tests: blood tests and medical clearance, $100–$500
- Consultation: some practices charge $50–$300; ask if it is credited
After surgery
- Compression garments: $80–$300 if not included, and a second lets you rotate while one is washed; see our compression garment guide
- Lymphatic drainage massage: $50–$150 per session, and several sessions are commonly recommended
- Medications: $50–$200
- Time off work and help at home: an unpaid cost for many people
Follow-up and revision
Ask how many follow-up visits the price includes and for how long. A complication, or a revision if the result disappoints, is rarely covered by the original price; see what to do when liposuction goes wrong. Standard travel policies typically exclude complications from elective cosmetic surgery, and our hidden costs guide goes through each travel item.
Frequently asked questions about stomach liposuction cost
-
A full-abdomen quote is $3,500–$8,000 in total in the US, £3,000–£6,500 in the UK and $2,000–$4,000 as an all-inclusive package in Turkey. A small lower-abdomen treatment starts at $3,500 in the US. Compare totals, not surgeon's fees, and check which zones each number covers.
-
Treating the abdomen and the flanks together costs $7,000–$14,000 in the US, £6,000–£11,000 in the UK and $2,500–$4,500 as an all-inclusive package in Turkey. That is more than the abdomen alone but usually less than two separate operations, because anaesthesia and the operating room are shared. The flanks have their own back and flank guide.

It depends on what you want to change. It tends to suit people with localised, pinchable fat, a stable weight and good skin elasticity, and it does not suit anyone who wants weight loss, tighter skin or less visceral fat. Results vary and a revision is rarely covered by the original price; see when liposuction goes wrong.
